All children 8 years of age and younger must be accompanied at all times in the library by a person 16 years of age or older. 

Catch the Reading Bug!
Join in the fun this summer by participating in Prairie Trails Public Library’s reading program, “Catch the Reading Bug! 

· Children entering 6th grade and below may participate. 
Older preteens and teens may participate in the Young Adult Reading Program.

· Sign-up begins Monday, June 16th and continues throughout the program.

· Each school age registrant must have his or her own library card.

· You must be registered for the reading program to sign up for any activities.

· Please let us know if you will need any special accommodations to attend the programs.

 

Kick-off Party 

Measner Magic
Thursday, June 19th from 2-2:45 p.m.
All ages welcome. 

John Measner has been entertaining children and families for over 15 years, with his fast-paced, captivating and always magical performance.  The stars of John’s show include his assortment of trained animals…and you – the audience. This blend of modern magic with a traditional touch has astonished audiences of all ages. When John brings his animal friends-a rabbit, an array of doves and two toy poodles-to the stage, magic just seems to happen!

Any non-reader in preschool
(at least 3 years old) through
2nd grade may register to be paired
with a teen volunteer to read stories together.

Toddler Time

 Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. or
 Wednesdays at 6:30p.m.
18 months-2 ½ years
Parent or caregiver must be present.
 Limit 15 per session.
 Sessions are 30 minutes

 
Preschool Storytime
June 24th-July 30th
Sessions are 45 minutes
Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. or

Wednesdays at 10:00a.m
3-5 years (not in Kindergarten)
Children attend alone.

 


The Big Balloon Show with Smarty Pants and Miss Dena

Wednesday, June 25th  at 2 p.m.
All ages welcome.
Program lasts approximately one hour.

See this unique show that combines magic, comedy,
balloon twisting and audience participation in a hilarious spectacle unlike any other.


Crafts
All materials will be provided.

All ages; if child is 6 years or younger, a parent or guardian must be present to help with the craft.

Buggy Stories to make you Itch
Primary to Family
Monday,  July  14th at 2:00 p.m. 
Storytellers Denise Farrugia and Ruth Faklis will offer  tales that will make you itch, squirm and scratch.

Very Scary-Creepy-Slimy-Stories
Monday,  July  14th at 6:30 p.m.
Recommended for third graders and up 
(family attendance encouraged)

Not for the faint-hearted!  storytellers Denise Farrugia and Ruth Faklis will relate their scariest  tales.

Diary of a Bug Party

Holly Cleeland, author of
Glue & Go Costumes for Kids, will be showing parents and kids
how common household items can easily be made into clever and crafty children's costumes.
One lucky child will even win one of her cool creations!

The Rope Warrior  
Wednesday, July 23rd at 2 p.m.
All ages welcome. Program lasts approximately one hour.
Watch The Rope Warrior’s awesome jump-roping routines set to music.  You may even have
a chance to participate in one of them yourself!

CULVER’S ICE CREAM PARTY
Reach your  first reading goal and join us for an ice cream sundae and a chance to win  great prizes. Only those who pick up their book logs on
Friday, August 8th beginning at  12:30 p.m. will qualify for the special prizes  which will be raffled at the conclusion of the ice cream party.  Slacker  the  Clown will be here giving out balloons and a special gift to each reading participant in attendance.

 Haunted Trails Pizza Party
Tuesday, August 12th from 5:30-8 p.m.
Anyone who reaches the highest reading goal is invited to Haunted Trails for free pizza and pop for yourself and your brothers and sisters.
